Customer in hospital

My employee (a Standard Bank customer) was in a vehicle accident which has resulted in serious injuries. In order to claim disability benefits through the company’s insurance provider, one page of the disability application form requires confirmation of the employee's bank details and the bank stamp. The employee's wife was advised by Standard Bank to get a Power of Attorney for herself to be able to request the completion of the form. The Company attorney drew up the POA and the wife presented it at the bank. The POA has the customer's finger print on it as he is unable to sign at present. Standard Bank then advised that they still cannot complete the form. The Attorney, myself (as Employer and one of the witnesses on the POA) and the employee's wife went to Standard Bank. Standard Bank advised there is nothing they can do apart from recommending we get a curatorship from the High Court. Alternatively the employee must come into the bank. My employee has been in hospital for 7 weeks. He resides in a township. He is not able to visit Legal Aid. His disability benefit application runs the risk of being rejected if the form is not completed properly and therefore no income if he cannot return to work.

Is this how you treat your customer's in their most dire need? What happened to a personal banker who could visit the customer and confirm his identity and request? Standard Bank, your urgent assistance is appreciated.
