Customer charged for Std Bank to fix own IT error!

Dear Std Bank:

on 24 July your IT department had a bad day with system maintenance.

R2922 was incorrectly debited from my account in an EFT and similar issues happened to "lots" of customers according to call centre.

After 3 hours on calls, FB and Hellopeter complaints, 10 days later you RECALLED this transaction .. by again DEBITING my account! on 2 August this was fixed and original amount also credited again. All good.

Then on 3 August i was again credited R2922 and again R2922 .. thanks!. This was immediately fixed and these amounts debited .. back to square one, but all good. 8 transactions to fix 1 std bank IT error.

Then i noticed today, you have the audacity to charge me a R50 fee for branch transaction to fix YOUR error.

Please reverse this immediately.

Where is the communication on this issue as it has affected "lots" of customers?

Are all effected customers being charged a 'branch fee' to fix your mistakes? Why has this taken 2 weeks to resolve? Any compensation for the interest lost by this missing money over this time?

Time to find a new bank...

Regards, Nic
