CREDIT CARD WOES

I made arrangement to pay off my credit card. I then came into some money and paid the credit off. I had cut up the credit card about a year ago, now wanting to make use of the credit card I am told that I am not allowed to use this card and I must now reapply!!!Why? I paid the credit card in full, its actually in credit. I feel like a ********, not someone who went out of their way to meet their committment and paid the card up in full!! Disgusting and I really need the money, where are you now Standard Bank???
