Credit Card issued to unemployed

Back in 2011, I recieved a Standard Bank Blue Credit Card WITHOUT applying and having NO credit checks or affordability assesments done.

Being an unemployed, full time student at the time - I used the card and still sit with the outstanding balance up and till today.

Also being employed in the same sector currently, and knowing how the application process works - what happened to me back then can be seen as "reckless lending"??

Yes, i did use the credit BUT why should I be held responsible for something I did not apply or ask for?

Ombudsman would be my next option regarding this matter, just to get some clarity if SBSA did infact act in my best behalf as a client??
