Credit Card ***** STANDARD Bank
I was recently ****med by very professional ********s, I believe current or past employees as they had all the correct jargon and my details! I first received a computerised voice message from Standard Bank Card ***** Division. You don't get to speak to a person, computer options. if you are not satisfied "wait for a consultant" to assist you.......you wait forever with no human assisting you! The transactions queried were my 3 latest, harmless, low-value transactions. A setup to soften me I believe. I then received a phone call from the "***** Division" asking if I'm aware of additional possible ********** transactions from MTN and if they can stop them? Not being mine, I requested to stop them. They said they require an OTP to process the Stop. They undertook to immediately email a Statement reflecting the cancellation. No Statement arrived. Then I received a call from the "Supervisor" asking if their consultant resolved my ********** transactions satisfactorily? He then reported more transactions, undertook to reverse them and make sure the Statement is sent to the correct email address. More OTP.s Realising something was wrong I tried calling all the Emergency numbers without any success.....never got through to a consultant despite at least 20 attempts and holding on for up to 10 minutes per call! Getting near the end of Business Day I resorted to sending email messages to all the Help Lines, called my Private Banker and Business Banker to assist. My Business Banker tried, on my behalf, to stop my Credit Card but it was apparently too late! I later received a phone call in response to my email messages from the ***** Division, same scarry, identical questions asked! You never know who you are talking to! A long story short, they declined my request to stop the transactions and not reimburse me at all. Strange though, my Credit Card Limit was far exceeded by thousands! When I queried this, they stopped payment on the amounts where my limit was exceeded, why could this not be done for ALL the ********** transactions? Why did the real ***** Division not query the flurry of transactions from all over the country? What do we pay a monthly Card Fee for? Is there no insurance to cover this?
