Credit Amount Not Decreasing

I had a credit card with Standard Bank but because if economic conditions was retrenched from my job and fell behind my installments of R250 and my account was handed over to Norlam Attorneys for collection. I settled to pay R500 a month but after paying for almost 2 years my outstanding balance is R10000 the outstanding credit limit. How does Standard bank ever expect me to finish paying off this credit card if I feel I am being ********** when I took the obligation to increase my installments to finish off my debt.
