Cosmetic STOP DEBIT functionality Banking App or Online STANDARD BANK

It seems with standard bank the stop debit functionality either on app or online banking is purely cosmetic because when I decided to switch my salary after having fallen victim to a very convincing **** of these financial debt review companies. I initiated a Stop debit and I was charged for this by Standard Bank but to my surprise all the the debits I supposedly close the Bank ran them all generating interest on banking charges which this financial institution wants me to make a promise to pay. They even ran debits charges on account I had paid up am I missing something here right now I feel Standard Bank is just being spiteful.
