Compromise
I recently (last month) had a call from what was purported to be the ***** department at Standard Bank - used all the right lingo and had my identity number read out to me to confirm that it is the ***** department - claimed there was a debit order from a travel agency in Bloemfontein that they are looking into - did I authorise this? when I said no I was told I will be assisted in blocking this transaction by going into my banking app. I said I don’t use the app at all and was then told they will do the necessary and will send an sms. No sms and most certainly no *****ulent debit order. The fact that they had my phone number and identity number indicates a compromise of records - contrary to the media denials. Looking at the reviews it certainly seems so.
