Complaint No. 8 – Revolving Credit Plan Debit Order Still Not Fixed After 5 Months

This is complaint no 8 about the same ongoing issue with Revolving Credit Plan - and unbelievably, the problem continues after more than 5 months

đź“… Timeline of Events

1) 17 May – First report: debit order didn’t run. I was told it had been “reloaded,” but I had to pay manually. 2) 11 June – Received written confirmation that the debit order would run from my ABSA account, and that my Prestige account was closed. 3) 18 June – Debit still failed. My RCP account disappeared from both internet and mobile banking, leaving me unable to pay manually without workarounds. 4) 24 June – I made a second manual payment of R7,500 to keep the account current. 5) 15 July – I was assured again that the debit order would run from ABSA. It failed, and the system tried to debit from a random source, resulting in a returned unpaid debit. 6) 16 July – I made another manual payment to protect my credit record. 7) 15 August – Once more, I had to make a manual payment because the debit order still wasn’t corrected. 8) 15 September - Debit order once again returned as is debiting from a closed account. Again the debit order detail have not been changed to ABSA

Despite multiple complaints, confirmations, and promises, the issue has not been resolved.

Latest Update

After my last HelloPeter complaint, Gorden Bila from Standard Bank called me and undertook to fix the debit order details. He emailed me requesting a bank statement — I responded immediately, questioning why a full statement was required and instead supp**** a bank confirmation letter from ABSA.

Yet another month has now passed, and still the debit order is not corrected. Once again, I’ve had to make a manual payment.

What I Expect

1. Immediate correction of my debit order details. 2. Written confirmation that my credit record has not been and will not be negatively affected. 3. Accountability from Standard Bank for seven months of repeated failures and broken promises.

If this is not resolved by COB Friday, 19 September 2025, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter to the Banking Ombudsman.
