So i would like to advise anyone that is thinking of taking a loan or credit card with Standard Bank, if for some odd reason you end up with debt consolidation, double check their policy wording. My dad ended up with debt consolidation, and there was a portion of his payment going for insurance which is surpose to cover retrenchment. After notifying them, and them not responding to me, the accounts has been handed over to the lawyers. I feel it is very unfair that Standadrd Bank does not take the time to correspondant and get back to their clients, but are so quick to get lawyers involved. And also charge a sepreate fee for insurance, but not use when a person is retrenched. People my advise - ABSA and Standard Banks terms and conditions should be read so carefully.
