Complaint
I bought a car through standard bank as a finance house in May 2023, the Agreement indicate that my first installment will be July, I have paid all my installments from July to date. inspite of that I was double debited in July and equired with standard bank and the consultant confirmed that it is indeed a double debit but one appears like a EFT and the other appears like a debit. I was advised to reverse one of teh payments which I have done. In August I was told that I was in areas, every day I received a call twice morning and afternoon. I was told I am in areas all proofs of payment were shared with the bank, but the bank insited that I am in areas, until now when my account was handed over to LRG Attorneys by Standard Bank. when I engaged the firm, the story changed now, that teh reason for my arrears is that I am owing the month of June 2023. I reffered the firm to the agreement which stipulated that the my first installment is in July, then the firm indicated that it is wrong I must go and ask the dealer, when I enquired with reputable dealer, the dealer indicated that there is nothing wrong with my agreement, there is a standard practice of a 60 days grace when signing a purchase agreement for a car. the dealer indicated that standard bank should honour their agreement and sent an email to standard bank, todate there is no feedback. through this porcesss I have spoken to approximately 10 consultants from standard bank of which two of them I have an email trail where they said they will check with allocation if weather my payments were allocated correctly. This also includes me going to the bank 3 times for this matter, the last consultant at The Glen Mall Standard Bank, told me that he assited one lady with a similar matter, apparently this lady was paying for 3 months but since her installaments were not allocated she was on the verge where the bank wanted to reposes her car. When I enquired with the consultant to also help me, he instead indicated that I need to go and use the banks phone and call the Vehicle finance department as he can't assist me. He also indicated that Standard Bank had changed the vehicle account numbers as it now included forward slashes and apparently this created a problem as funds could not be allocated, instead of the bank pro-actively fixing this problem, it does not but customers are to deal with being on arrears and being handed over the Bank's powerful legal firms. I am still sitting with this matter and do not know what to do anymore.
