Closing an Account

I opened a tax free investment account, which I thought would be an ordinary savings account, just that you are not liable for tax on interest received. It ended up being a share trading account that I am not interested in and would rather have it closed. I called Standard Bank call centre and was told that the account can only be closed at a branch. I proceeded to do this on Saturday 04 November. I wasted 90 minutes of my time. The consultant could not find the account and was unfami**** with the product. I eventually had to log into my internet banking to show her the account and she then called another colleague telephonically who advised that the account can only be closed via the call centre?? Besides wasting my time, the staff don't know the products and the branch and call centre have a different story. I spoke to the business manager of Brackenfell Branch this morning who promised to look into it and get back to me, but I have not heard from him again. Trying to contact the branch via the call centre is impossible because the branch does not answer the telephone. Really pathetic, unprofessional service. I just want this account closed and I need someone competent enough to assist.
