Closing account

In January 2023 I closed my prestige account, overdraft and RCA, it took nearly 2 hours, I was asked to transfer money from my credit card to this account to pay for fees outstanding. I left the Northgate branch with the understanding that this account was now closed. Imagine my surprise finding several e-mail statements in my junk folder, apparently I owe STDB over R1800 in account fees! A help desk operator says I need to go to a branch to sort this out. No sir, Sort this out yourselves. This is not the kind of service I have ever received from Standard Bank. for 30 years they have been helpful, accommodating and the branch service excellent.
