Claims take far too long and no feedback

3 weeks ago I lodged a vehicle claim - my first vehicle claim since 1963 when I started driving. All started well with the first telephone call to report the matter and a return call making an appointment with an assessor. I kept to the assessor's appointment on the same day. Thereafter I have heard nothing from SBIB. I queried and was informed SBIB was still waiting for the assessor's report. Why can't SBIB follow up and advise the client? Why the long delay? I believe some other insurance companies are telephoned and they telephone the assessor etc. and arrange repairs on behalf of the client over the telephone much quicker than what I am experiencing. If SBIB is still waiting for the assessor why don't they take their business elsewhere as this reflects poorly on SBIB. I even sent another panel beater's assessment and of course no response from SBIB. I am sitting on the maximum scale where I receive refunds from SBIB but obviously this means little. Being a Standard Bank Private Banking customer also means little in this regard despite the bank selling this insurance. Oh well it keeps the Insurance Ombudsman in business!
