Charged Overdraft Interest Caused by Standard Bank’s Own Fees

I am extremely disappointed with Standard Bank’s handling of my account.

I requested statements from the bank and was charged fees simply for asking for these statements. Because of these charges being deducted, my account ended up going into overdraft. As a result, Standard Bank then charged me overdraft interest on an overdraft that only occurred because of their own statement fees.

When I queried this, I expected the bank to correct the situation and refund the interest, as the overdraft was caused by their deductions. Instead, I was told that the interest would not be refunded.

It is very frustrating that a customer can be charged for requesting their own account statements, and then also be penalized with overdraft interest because of those charges. This feels unfair and unreasonable.

I would appreciate Standard Bank reviewing this matter properly and refunding the overdraft interest that was caused by these deductions.
