Charge app**** for change
Called on a branch this morning to change R200 & R100 notes into more usable/acceptable notes i.e. R20 & R10. The teller informed me that their would be a small fee and if she could take this off the change I had requested. This is a new fee introduced by Std Bank. The "manager" explained to me that this was something that was introduced last week. No advice or notice to any clients. When I enquired whether this charge would be app**** if I wanted to change large denominations issued by the ATM, they advised that this would be done. This was actually the reason I had gone to the bank to change the notes. Banks are the only place where we can request any change whether notes or coin. Is this just another fee app**** to stop clients from visiting branches? Similar to the cheque deposit fee where I am charged when somebody gives me a cheque in payment for whatever. This experience was not very conducive to my day that had started on a friendly note.
