Changing of transfer limit unreasonably declined

I visited the van der walt street branch of standard bank with the intention to increase my online transfer limit. I had with me my identification document only and was advised that they wanted the ATM card to effect the change I requested. I did not have it on me, so they said they would do it manually if my FICA documents were up to date, which they were as per her system check. I asked for a R20000 limit, but was declined because the account balance was less than that! I pointed out that account balances change frequently and hence should not be a factor in the limit. The lady called her manager who then reverted to the position that my ATM card was required, yet they had offered to do it manually! I feel I am getting the run around because when I opened the account, they again refused to set a limit saying they needed funds in the account! FNB and Nedbank have no such limitation and I can even update the limit online! Standard bank can surely do better. No customer wants to walk into a banking hall for even the simplest things, even considering security issues, thats what OTPs are for.
