***** Case

STANDARD BANK ***** CASE

Standard Bank Allowed *****ulent Transaction Above My Credit Limit – No Support Given

Complaint: I am a loyal Standard Bank customer of more than 25 years, and I am extremely disappointed and shocked by how my ***** case has been handled.

A *****ulent transaction of R29,531.08 was processed on my credit card despite me only having R11,000 of available credit at the time. Standard Bank not only allowed this transaction to go through, but also charged an additional R809.26 in fees.

I did NOT authorise this payment, and I did NOT give Standard Bank consent to extend my credit limit or override the available balance.

This raises serious concerns: If *****sters had attempted to ***** R50,000, R100,000 or even millions would Standard Bank have simply released those funds as well and held me responsible?

I have multiple protections enabled on this card, yet I received no support from my bank and no proper explanation.

I feel: • Mistreated • Unsupported • Exposed to unnecessary financial risk • And deeply disappointed after more than two decades of loyalty

This handling is unacceptable.

I have formally objected to the outcome and am now escalating the matter publicly as Standard Bank has failed to protect me as a consumer.

I am strongly reconsidering my banking relationship with Standard Bank and will be closing my accounts and making repayment arrangements separately.

I request: • An urgent internal escalation • A full investigation into why funds beyond my limit were released • A complete reversal of the *****ulent amount and fees • Written confirmation of corrective action

Case number: Standard Bank Case no. *** SAPS Case no. AMANZIMTOTI Station CAS 36/11/2025

I expect a prompt and transparent response.

Reviewer Update
Dear Standard Bank Hello Peter Team,

Thank you for your message.

I would like to clarify that I did receive calls however, they were through the automated answering service, where I was instructed to hold for a consultant. I remained on the line through multiple cycles (more than 8 calls), but no consultant ever answered.
This means the attempts to reach me were not actually completed, and unfortunately no real escalation or effort has taken place. As if they with ease want to get rid of me from social media.

I am extremely concerned that despite this being a ***** case, no one has taken meaningful steps to assist me. I feel as though the matter has been brushed aside, and instead of receiving support, I am left feeling helpless while additional Financing fees are being randomly loaded onto my account.

Given the seriousness of *****, I expect this matter to be handled with urgency. Surely the IT and security departments should be able to trace or identify this *****ulent activity rather than leaving customers to carry the burden.

I request that this case not be closed, and that it be properly escalated to someone who will make effort take responsibility to properly investigate and assist me.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Kind regards,
Diane
