Card Fees on Garage Card

After 12 years of loyal patronage of Standard bank and at the age of 69 and with virtually every investment that I have as a retiree invested in this bank not to mention, most of that time as a Prestige Customer, I noted that my credit card statement for the last two months showed two fee amounts of R28.00 per month! In response to a secure message I sent to the branch querying this, I learnt that from June this year I was now being charged a monthly service fee for not only my Gold Credit card but also a Garage card. I was advised by the branch that I should destroy my Garage card and notify the card division that I no longer needed this card. I might add that this card if it were used at all would have been last used in 2012 the reason I refrained from its use being that it incurred a transaction fee of I believe R3.75. As you are aware all garages now accept credit cards and as a pensioner I invested in a Ucount Rewards card for which I am also charged a fee. Apparently this new fee was published in the price guide but take note there was no warning and all customers need to be aware of the ruthless manner banks do their own thing with charges to even good customers!
