Card Decline payback

To whom it may concern,

I am extremely unhappy yet again with standard bank.

On the February 24th my standard bank debit card was declined at KingsMeat butchery. I had to go draw cash to pay for the goods i wanted to buy. I realised when i got home that the declined transaction had actually gone through. I do realise that if the transaction was declined it can take a couple of minutes for the funds to be returned. this is where my issue comes in. Instead of it taking a couple of minutes I had to wait 5 days for MY money to be repaid to me.

Guess what yesterday it happned yet again. I was at Glenfair Spar to buy some groceries. I swiped and left only to be chased down like a ******** for leaving without paying (i must admit it was the cashiers fault for not noticing the card didnt go through). I swiped again and this time it went through. i didnt realise at the time that the amount they swiped for the second time was different from the first amount, but that is an issue I will resolve with Spar. I noticed in store that yet again the money hasnt been paid back within a couple of minutes.

I phoned standard bank's call centre to resolve this, but was told firstly because the amounts differ that they will have to do an ivestigation. I was then advised to leave a complaint with standard bank to speed up the resolution of this problem. Only to be told I will be notified as soon as the money gets paid back, which according to them can take anything from 5-7 working days.... UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have only one question. Where did the money go??????

It Doesn't reflect on the Spar's credit card transactions for the day so it was declined. But the money was taken from my account.... so where is the money and why do standard bank think they have the right to just take money without returning it. If I as an idividual do this it is considered ***** and i will be thrown in jail.

I urge anyone reading this to think twice about opening or keeping an account with this ***** financial institution.

Regards

Quinten Mulder
