Can't close loan account!?!

I would like to close my Revolving loan account. I don't live in South Africa anymore, and I am being told that I can only close this account if I go to a branch. How can this be possible? I've settled the full loan amount and now I'm stuck because I need to be physically present to close this account. Surely this is not true?
