Cannot access funds due to bank indifference
Standard bank has processed a bond settlement on my account on the request of an a conveyancer not appointed by me or authorised to act on my behalf. Many hours on the phone from New Zealand have achieved no results as they keep telling me the conveyancer must remove the bond cancellation. This has resulted in me being unable to access funds I hold in my access bond for almost a week now. Standard bank has failed to protect a customer and his right to control his funds. Surely a check should be done to ensure that conveyancers have been appointed and have a right to act before Standard Bank processes their requests and more importantly, when notified of such an ******* action they should verify facts and immediately correct the situation. While my house has been sold by Seeff, their principal who is also a conveyancer has no right to appoint himself as conveyancer against my expressed directive that I will appoint my own conveyancer, even if he is on the Standard Bank panel. While the bond cancellation will need to be done, I require access to my funds prior to settlement being requested. Think again if you believe Standard bank will protect your right to access your funds.
