Burst Geyser

I bought my new home on the 17th of Novemver 2016, finnaced through standard bank. We recieved compliance certificates in order for the sale to get transfered at this date. On sunday the 14th of January the geyser burst. Standard bank insurance where helpful and sent out a plumber to access the damgage and to quote them for the replacement. I payed the plumber directly for the excess as indicated by Standard Bank and he started to remove the old geyser.

At this point he realised that the overflow pipe for my geyser is deceptive in that it is plumbed into concrete and does not run outside of my house. Due to the home being constructed out of concrete slabs with a flat roof, the geyser is under the stairs on the bottom floor. In order to make it compliant there needs to be a pipe installed in the floor taking the over flow outside. So on another note what is the purpose of a compliance inspection if something that isnt complaint can get through the process?

On realising this the plumber packed up and left, refunding the excess. The Plumber informed me that Standard bank have decided to pay me out. I have phoned Standard bank almost everyday for the last 10 days trying to get a response from Standard bank. Sharon, Liesel, Harry, Sifiso and now Garth have all promised to call me back. To date I have not had one phonecall from Digicall or Izinga the outsourced company Standard Bank use as a call centre. On Saturday when I spoke to Sharon I got her to cc me in on an email sent to Charles Ramaijane who has a Standard Bank email address, requseting him to contact me on Monday morning. I have sent two emails to this address and have not had any acknowledgement from Standard Bank of the receipt of my emails. I have not had hot running water for 10 days and Standard Bank and Izinga dont have the decentcy to respond to me with regards to my claim.

The customer service is by far the worst I have ever recieved from any company. I understand that things havea process and they might need to re accees but to fail to communicate and have 5 employees promise to respond and have nothing actioned, that is just poor company policy. I Cannot believe that I have to deal with such shocking cutomer service for the next 20 years with Standard Bank. I'm appauled.

Michael
