Bluebean / Standard Bank Card Merge nightmare

I have both a Blue Bean card and a standard Bank Titanium card. Recently Bluebean changed to a Standard Bank Gold card, and advised clients that they could merge their Gold card with an existing Standard Bank Card. To do this, both accounts had to be in good standing. I phoned to do this , on a date I don't recall, and the call centre agent was unaware of the arrangement and I was unable to arrange for this. On 12 December 2017, I phoned the call centre and arranged for this to be done. I received an SMS with a request number, stating that this was due on 02 January 2018. Because I do not know the process of how the merge will take place, my logic tells me that I should not touch the account in this period. So I didn't - no money out, no money in. On 02 January 2018, I received an SMS that my request is still in progress. On 04 January 2018, I received an SMS that my credit card is overdue (I hazarded a guess that this was the Bluebean card) - but the merge is in the process, so I ignore. On 05 January 2018, I receive a call to please pay my card. I explain that it is being merged with my Titanium card - I am told there is only one card on the system for me and this young lady has no idea about the merge. on 06 Janaury 2018 I received an automated call for payment. I phoned the call centre on 08 January 2018 to find out what is happening with this merge, as I am still loathe to move monies into or out of this account while the merge process is underway. I am told that there is no call for my cards to be merged, that my Bluebean card is with collections, and I have to pay. On 09 January 2018, I received a call to advise that I must speak with collections to sort out the payment and the late fees charged to my account, so that they can unblock the card in the order for the merge to be done (now only being logged - previous request number is not actioned at all and seems to be in the ether at this time). So - for a mistake that Standard Bank has made, I must spend more time discussing it with collections, requesting collections to reverse late fees, and unblock the card. Why? If a Standard Bank employee has not done what they were supposed to do, why can't a Standard Bank employee discuss the matter with collections and get it resolved. I am gatvol. Frustrated. Irritated. I have made the payment on the Bluebean card and expect this account to be merged asap. In the meantime, I will be approaching another bank to open a credit card elsewhere and will then close the Titanium card as well. Really Standard Bank - your service could do with an overhaul.
