Blocking Account for NO reason!

A year or so back, I went in to a Std Bank branch and supp**** them with all of my FICA documents. This year, however, I again received an email saying that I needed to bring in my documentation. NOTHING had changed from the last time, and for a working professional there just is not enough time to waste on matters ALREADY attended to.

Standard Bank proceeded to block my account. I was forced to go to the branch. In submission of my documents, the employee confirmed that they already had everything and that the information was the same.

What I would like to know is: 1. Who gives them the right to deny consumers access to their own money, while everything supp**** by the consumer is correct? 2. Why did I have to present them with the exact same information already in their possesion in order to gain access to my OWN money? They wasted precious time due to their own incompetence, in addition to causing major inconvenience due to simply blocking my account for no valid reason.

I also asked to close my accounts, after which I was informed that I could not do it as it was too close to month end, and I will have to go in again the following week. How can this be? How can I NOT be allowed to close my accounts when I want to? Fees can be deducted on closure, but now, AGAIN, I will have to make another trip to the bank just to do something I could have done while I was there today. Considering the above and their treatment of so called "clients", they shouldn't even wonder why I am closing my accounts.
