Being treated with contempt

I will share the email that I sent to Standard Bank in the hope that someone will respond before I leave the bank after more than 20 years with them: To whom it may concern, My husband and I have been banking with Standard Bank for over 20 years. I have a cheque and credit card account and have always been in good standing. I changed my EFT limit to R 5 000, thinking it would be safer from ***** and not realising that my debit order for rent, a "future dated payment" was also considered an EFT.

This morning on 1 September I received an email saying that my future payment couldn't be made as my EFT limit was too low. The email says that "An unpaid item charge, will be app**** to your account, if the payments failed due to insufficient funds." However, I had sufficient funds - that was not the problem. I immediately changed my limit and called Standard Bank to ask if I could not be fined and they told me there is nothing to be done. I am very upset. I feel I should close my bank accounts and find a more understanding bank to deal with. If this matter is not resolved, I will have to take this action. Thanking you for your assistance Nicole

We are constantly treated with contempt by our banking institutions. If you have more money, you are treated better. Why should those in financial difficulties be treated worse than those in better circumstances?

I hope that this matter can be resolved. Otherwise I will definitely change banks.
