Bank staff ***** money.

Having left SA my credit card expired and the replacement was never collected from the branch as I was not in the country to do so however, someone at the bank clearly recognised this and decided to use it extensively. Despite this, they have and continue to pursue me for the outstanding balance. I notified them around a year ago when I discovered this and contacted them. The service and length of time to get responses took months. As I still had some commitments in SA I had kept my current account with enough funds to meet my direct debits., they had been taking minimum payments from my account. As the account ran out sooner than expected and left insufficient funds to cover my bills. Eventually many months later they advised me that they had cleared off some of the transactions however they were not prepared to write off the remaining figure as I had not reported the loss or usage in time. Despite having left the country with the card on a zero balance and a card that had expired, they cannot comprehend that it could not have been me, cannot account for the usage although I am sure that the transactions must be traceable for the services purchased, completely ignore emails and continue to send the outstanding credit card bills. The service with the bank was not great when I was there and certainly would not recommend opening accounts with them, I certainly will not if I were to return. This is not the first time the bank has been responsible for a significant financial loss due to theft from my account and continue to act with complete arrogance. U.K. phone number requires 0044 in front of it.
