Bank deducting high service charge but unable to explain what it is.
Every month Standard Bank deducts two amounts from my account, a CASH FINANCE CHARGE (it varies but is usually just over R700), and a FINANCE CHARGE (about R300).
The FINANCE CHARGE was explained to me as being an interest payment and the CASH FINANCE CHARGE as a penalty for using my credit card for transferring money from my credit card into my open account or for using my credit card to make a cash transaction.
As I have not been working during lockdown and am trying my best to manage my outstanding credit and made sure that this month I used my credit card with a credit card machine only and I made no transfers out of the account.
However, on the 11'th I was once again charged a CASH FINANCE CHARGE.
Despite several calls no one has been able to explain exactly what this charge is and why the bank is subtracting it. A internet search shows it is a common problem, however, and yet I have not found a single query successfully resolved.
As we are barely coping with what I have I can really not afford to pay a charge which the bank cannot justify. Especially as my request for debt relief was never responded to.
