BANK DEBITING MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT MY CONSENT!

I cancelled my life cover with Standard Bank last year and last week received a call from a consultant (Sandra) informing me that Standard Bank would like to have me reinstate my policy and they will reduce my premium. Advise the consultant to confirm what my premium would be if I did reinstate it, she advised her system was hanging and she would call me back in 10 minutes.

She never called back, the next day I got an email from Standard Bank Life Insurance that its my anniversary and my premium has increased by 6%

Yesterday a debit went through my account, upon calling and speaking to a Roxanne I was advised that she notices the policy was reinstated and a debit was set to go through my account. She will investigate and get back to me.

Six hours later called and spoke to a Tashrell that advised Roxanne was unavailable but she notices they still investigating and 24 hours has not been reached to escalate.

Upon calling today and speaking to a Ishmaeel I was advised that a refund will be processed and it takes 7 to 10 working days for the refund process or for immediate reversal I need to go to a branch. I told him I will not settle for that as Standard Bank who is my bank debited my account without my permission. He then spoke to his senior Dimitri who advised the refund will now take up to 48 hours.

Why is it that banks can debit your account and sit with your money for days! Money you could have been receiving interest for yet you end up been inconvenienced not them!
