Bad service and Loyalty

My husband has a credit card with Standard bank for over 20 years. Over the years the credit limit has increased over R 21000. Our available limit in December 2016 was R19000+ as we still owed and amount for a washing machine that we purchased over 24 months ago. In November and December I made extra payments with funds raised for our son’s trip to Tokio Japan as we needed to purchase his flight ticket on the credit card. When my husband went to the bank on the 9/01/2017 Thibault Square where he tried to make a payment the consultant told him that did not have enough credit limit, he was told that they will increase the credit limit to R10 000 and he needed to submit proof of address and copy of ID for Fais. My question is, why was the limit going to be adjusted if our last statement received in December confirmed that we had over 19000 credit limit? On the 10/1/2017 he submitted the fais documents and was told to come back the next day, bearing in mind that he has to take off work every time he goes to the bank and being pushed from pillar to post. On the 11 /01/2017 he went back to the bank and was told that the transaction did not to go through as his credit card was suspended. I also asked the Agency if we could submit the credit payment through there office. This was done on the 12/01/2017 the payment would not go through on their side either and the account holder had to contact the bank to release the payment. My husband went back to the bank on the 12/01/2017 and was told that he needed to get in contact with the card division as they could not do it at the time when he was in the bank. Another day wasted. On Friday 13/1/2017 he put in a day’s leave to sort out the matter at the Lansdowne branch only to find out that the card was never FAIS. He then had to go back home get the documents go back to the bank submit the document and wait another 48 hrs for the information to reflect. Monday 16/1/2017 my husband went back to the bank and was told that his account has been closed as the last purchase that was done was over 2 years ago and he now had to apply for new credit limit. WHY MUST HE APPLY FOR A NEW CREDIT LIMIT WHEN THE LIMIT HAS ALWAYS BEENJ THERE? Before the last purchase that was also more than two years before we paid up the account and there was no problem after that when he reused the card to purchase the washing machine. Why could this not be told to him the very first day he went to the bank? Is the staff at standard bank so *********** that they do not know how there system work? Surely this information should be available in order for the staff to deliver an excellent service. How can you close and account that was still being used less than a month ago. Shame on you. This is not acceptable. In this case we are done with standards bank and we are going to close all accounts that have with standard back. It does not pay to be loyal this I have now experiences first hand.
