BAD SERVICE
After numerous attempts to explain to the assessor what our roofing consists of- he is still adamant on sting that this is a thatch roof. We are paying an insurance premium for thatch roof although we do not have a thatch layer. This was incorrectly assessed 4 years ago and after lodging a query has still not been resolved. The very same assessor came out to my premises- and the very first question he asks” if we changed the roof??” No we have not and this is why we tried to explain to him the tile cover on roof. We even showed him a loose tile in order for him to understand the tile. He said that he only has two options on his forms- either thatch or tiled roof. My husband then asked what do they say when it is a Zink roof for instance- he then explained it falls under “other”- This is our argument- this roof falls under “other” seeing that it is a Metro-tile.
To clarify :
.We have cape reed inside layer (1cm) under metro tiles - this retains the warmth on the inside of the house The natural fire rating (resistance to fire) of cape reed thatch (thamnochortus insignis) is much higher than any other because of an exceptionally high density and a natural protective silicon like layer in which the reeds are covered. Metro-tile is a lightweight Aluzinc coated steel tile that is highly resistant to extreme weather conditions .These tiles are fire resistant and has an incredible strength and resistance. Now again he has reported that this roof is a thatch roof…….really ??? We are at our wits end ,as this blatant disregard of the truth, is costing me money- and he could not just admit that he made a mistake with his initial assessment. We were informed that if it is not a thatch the insurance premium will be re-calculated and the refund will be worked back for 3years ( although we have stayed in this house for 4 years) We would like this matter sorted out as soon as possible . We have been loyal customers of Standard bank for over 30years now. We are now contemplating moving everything we have with them to another bank We are seriously unhappy with Standard bank and very disappointed after the years we’ve been loyal to them….we get this??
