Bad service
I have been a customer of standard bank since 2003 but recently been experiencing disappointing and unfair treatment from the bank.
My motor vehicle is financed by standard bank. My debit date for the instalment is on the 25th of each month.
In December 2019, I contacted the call center and requested that the debit order FOR DECEMBER be done on the 13th for the reason that I get paid on the 15th in December. I specifically indicated that this was an arrangement for December 2019 only.
To my surprise, on 14 January 2020 at 07:06am I received a call from a standard bank employee in the collection department. She introduced herself as Nondumiso Mkhonza. She told me that they tried to debit my account for the car instalment however there weren't enough funds. I explained to her that my debit date is on the 25th and the 13th was a once off arrangement. I was perturbed and unimpressed as this bouncing off of the debit order impact negative on my credit profile. Nondumiso said the date had not been reinstated and undertook to change it. She apologized and committed to make it up for this. The instlament for January was ultimately debited on the 25th of the same month as per arrangement.
On 13 February 2020, I went to a branch to transfer money from my other account to my cheque account. To my surprise, standard bank immediately debited the instalment for February. This really disturbed me as I needed to use the funds urgently. I was inconvenienced in any way I'm even failing to explain.
I went inside the branch again . The consultant really tried her utmost best to resolve my complaint but SAVF wouldn't take any of it. They disputed that in January I asked for the date to be reinstated. They said there's no note on the system to that effect. They said there's basically nothing they could do for me as the debit order had already went through. They also said if the branch reverses the debit order my credit profile will be adversely affected. They failed to admit liability. They never bothered to apologize. I was told to call after 3 days of the debit order to change the date. But how many times must I change the date????? What must I do for standard bank to take me seriously as a valued customer????
Well, in light of the above we didn't reverse the money. I am not a bad payer and I didn't want my record to be impacted. I had to get other funds as I needed the money urgently. Imagine the inconvenience. Why is standard bank so determined to ruin my credit profile? WHAT WILL IT REALLY TAKE FOR YOU TO REINSTATE THE Date to 25 as before!
