BAD BANKING WITH STANDARD BANK
Worst experience ever. This January, my standard bank cheque account is in arrears due to a payment I made in December at the licensing offices. I swiped my card for the amount of R1092 on the 22nd Dec for the licenses, I am always keeping track of my account & the money that goes in & out. I pulled a statement on the 27th Dec which clearly shows the money left my account & went into holding. At no point did the amount return to my account & at no point was I debited twice.
Fast forward to January, I last swiped on the 16th for the amount of R240. My balance before swiping was approximately R400. On the 18th my account was suddenly in areas to the amount of -R880. I pulled a statement which showed that the R1092 that I swiped for in December went off 18th. How was this possible? The banks argument is that the licensing department only did their banking once they opened offices in January & thats when the money officially went out. This should not have affected my account at all as the money swiped should've been held for the licensing department. It was in fact not held/ in waiting & I was allowed to "overspend". After 10 years being their client, I do no recommend them. They are of no help. This is what you call bad banking.
