BACK TO ****MING US AGAIN WITH HONOURING FEES FOR TRANSACTIONS WE NEVER APPOVED

I wonder if our money is safe with standard bank and their rude consultants when we query about our own hard earned money.

One of the insurance company debited my account on the 14th ( I normally get debited on the 20th). My trusted bank allowed this debit (even though i have a mandate for the 20th), they accepted this while they see my account has low funds, and paid the insurance company, which left my account on a minus. Now i owe them R300 worth of honouring fees because they did me "a favor" said by one of their agents, by paying insurance company on my behalf. A favor i never asked for. The funny thing is that i was once in this situation with them and they advised me that: From now on, nothing will go out of my account without me accepting such a mandate. Its literally on their system, infront of their eyes; I ACCEPTED A MANDATE FOR THE 20TH!

My take on this is that anyone can come, debit me anyday, Standard Bank will not mind giving them money because they know they will get money in return and I am the one to pay for everything. YET MY MONEY IS SAFE WITH THEM.

Dear Miya,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

An honoring fee is charged when a transaction is processed despite there being insufficient funds in your account. This usually applies to transactions that had not yet been banked by the merchant at the time.

The bank covers the shortfall to ensure the transaction is not declined, and the fee reflects that service.

We recommend reviewing your statement for any transactions that may have been banked late while there were insufficient funds available.

Please also note that service fees charged to your account are deducted from your available balance, including any latest and available funds.

 Kindest regards,
 Standard Bank Hello Peter Team
