Avoid this Bank at all costs

Approximately a year ago, my wife informed mne that she had been provided with a credit card from Standard Bank, even though she never had an account with Standard Bank. I giggled and asked my wife why anyone would give a credit card to people that were firstly retired and secondly never had an account with them. Never the less, she kept the card in her wallet and the billing for card fees started immediately. She deposited R1000 into the account. She used the credit card precisely once, to make sure it worked for approximately R1500. But the monthly cards fees mounted and I, the husband was receiving threatening SMSs about payment. It eventually got to me, and I and my wife went to the Standard Bank branch in Northmead Benoni to close the account. I requested a settlement figure which the bank could not provide me with as this came from \card"division. Never the less"
