Appalling Service
On Monday 7 July 2015, I went into the Standard Bank branch to have my cheque account reactivated. I was told that there was a lock up on my account. My details were uploaded and I was given a 7 day turn around time. I received an sms the next day which said that my query had been resolved. I used the account with no issues. I tried to make a purchase on Friday 10 July where my card declined. I then tried to go to an ATM to make a withdrawal but it said the account was unavailable. I called General banking and was informed after being on the line for 38 minutes that they did not know what the reason was as the collections department was closed. I called the collections department this morning and received the worst service from a gentleman called Milan. He condescendingly told me that firstly, the bank does not have to inform me that my account has been locked, which is shocking to say the least and that secondly, he neither knew why my account was locked nor did he know why my account was unlocked initially as this was done in error according to him. I asked him to find out why and he proceeded to place my call on hold and eventually hung up on me abruptly. I'm appalled!
