Almost stranded thanks to Card Division
In April we emigrated to Ireland from SA. I left my Standard Bank current account and mastercard open for various reasons. In the week before we left (Easter Weekend), I met my Mom at Greenstone mall and gave her signing powers on my account, and updated my residential address to my Mom's. I called Card Division from the branch to do the same (***). After arriving in Ireland, I went into a bank to do a cash advance from my mastercard. After being asked a million security questions by the teller (who was on the phone with Card Division), my transaction was declined because they had a different address. We needed the money to buy a car and pay rent upfront, and now we were stranded. My Mom eventually had to go to Western Union and I could receive MY money with no problem. If I didn't have someone back in SA to do this for me, what would've happened to MY money?? Now I've had to pay ridiculous service fees to Western Union through the fault of Card Division who obviously need further training on how to update somebody's address. I want a refund of those fees at the very least, for your obvious ineptitude!!
