Against SME Business Development

This is the issues we as SME businesses face in South Africa with Standard Bank that wants to push us down instead of helping us grow in the country.

The function of the company is a telemarketing centre with web based sales as well, when we signed up with SBSA I advised them that this will be the nature of the business.

In November 2016 someone from SBSA locked our merchant account for manual sales without notifying us at all. This impacted our business for 3 months as the investigation was done into ********** transactions that was claimed to have been done by my company. After the investigation was concluded by ******* it came out negative to ***** and our merchant account was re-opened.

In February 2017 the same instance happened due to SBSA’s employees not knowing what our business is nor does locked the merchant facility once again for 3 months without notification, once again the investigation concluded that my company was clean and clear they then reinstated our system, loss of income occurred for these 6 months.

In June 2017 SBSA’s employees suspended my funds without any notification and no correspondence given, after numerous calls to the pre settlement department I spoke to the manager who advised me that chargebacks was not paid up, I responded to him stating that this was paid and it was the incompetence of SBSA employees that no recon was done on my merchant account in which it shows that every chargeback had been paid for to date.

Once I proved to SBSA that my chargebacks had been paid and that it is through their *********** workers that my account was sitting in pre settlement they then locked my merchant facility.

Since June 2017 a person by the name of Sibusiso comes to our offices and claims that due to the amount of Hotcard/****** card numbers that clients have given us as we are unable to check the card status he is holding our funds for the next 6 months and that due to his report our merchant account will be closed down.

This was all done verbally and up till now which is the 2 August 2017 I have not received any correspondence from SBSA as to what is going on, I had to find out from VCS that our account had been closed due to SBSA stating that we were not 3D secure in which was absolute nonsense. Our company was 3D secure from the time the second merchant account was given to us as per the telecom that I had with the merchant and ***** division.

SBSA has now shut down my company that was generating on average R300 000 per month, caused my personal finances to be depleted, put me personally into debt, caused the loss of 35 employees and has still not given me any valid proof nor reason as to why this has happened. The *********** employees that SBSA has loaded incorrect chargebacks to my account then when proven incorrect they suspend our merchant facility.

This proves that SBSA has no intention of SME businesses growing and they just want to demolish SME companies because of the stupid *********** people they have working for them and this impacts lives.

Sibusiso who has not given me any information about him states that when a card is lost or ****** the card number stays the exact same ,this is an investigator for SBSA who does not even understand who the credit card works yet he can make life altering decisions with people’s lives and employment.

I will be taking further action as I have currently closed down my company due to these reasons stated and that I need to make the other SME companies aware that SBSA does not want growth in SA, my current financial loss is over R1million and SBSA has not even contacted me at all.

I feel that my company has been victimised due to the fact that we have always proved that SBSA was in the wrong and that the faults all occurred from their part yet we have been shut down due to incompetency and ignorance.

I will allow 24 hrs for this to be handled as I will not call nor email again I will go directly to the media channels and advise them exactly how SBSA hires *********** people and wants to always close and **** the new business development.

The amount of calls I put through is over R15 000 worth, I need resolution for this as this has greatly impacted our lives.

I will await 24hrs for this email to be responded to there after I will follow the legal process in order to get my resolution.
