Account closure
It is apparently impossible to close a Standard Bank account. The branch could not assist while I was there, but promised to sort it out via email. This did not happen yet and no one answers when you phone the branch.
The customer care line just puts you on hold for 10+ minutes. Complaints emails, and enquiries emails are just ignored.
Do not get a Standard Bank account. It is impossible to get rid of.
