A PATHETICALLY UNNECCESSARY AND TERRIBLY COSTLY EXPERIENCE

When we decided to sell our house, the last thing we expected was that Standard bank would prolong matters to such an extent that our rates clearance certificate would expire before they gave us a settlement amount. Due to me getting another job, my wife and I took a hit on the sale of the house; As if that isn't bad enough, Standard/ Bank, instead of just giving us the settlement amount, dragged their feet, and now It's costing us more to travel as well as to renew Rates Clearance: a matter that was done and dusted! Why couldn't they just give us the settlement amount and take things from there. They are not a small business: I am certain that they are capable of ensuring they get their money... So why the unnecessary Cost? Standard Bank was supposed to Save their clients money, not cost them more money! They are not a small business; why are they acting like they are?

I was promised a call on the15/5/22

It is the 17/5/22 and no phone call as yet Standard bank is really putting us under financial pressure!!!

THEY ARE TAKING THEIR OWN TIME BECAUSE FOR THEM IT'S A WIN WIN SITUATION.

IT'S HEARTBREAKING HOW LACKADAISICAL SO CALLED PROFESSIONALS HANDLED THIS!!!

Reviewer Update
In my review (13/05/2022; 17/5/2022{A PATHETICALLY UNNECESSARY AND TERRIBLY COSTLY EXPERIENCE [also recorded on02/06/2022}, I highlighted the Fact that that my wife and I sold our house at a shortfall. Our Lawyer sent all documentation through timeously! We app**** for rates clearance which was R11000.00.

Standard Bank and their Lazy Attorneys (S.D Moloi) dragged their feet in giving us cancellation figures until our Rates Clearance expired. I posted on “HELLO PETER “twice: We received a call only after the 2nd time we posted. The consultant said that “the matter would be investigated!” After that correspondence (17/05/2022), they called once more to say that the matter is still being investigated! I received no Feedback since then. We had to pay additional costs for a 2nd rates clearance (R12000.00), Money which was taken from the sale of the Property. As a result of this the money from the sale (which is still being held by our Attorney) decreased considerably. Now new shortfall figures must be calculated. Initially our shortfall amount was just under R15000.00; We signed an Agreement to pay this amount! Now because we had to pay a 2nd rates clearance, this figure will increase to cover the added shortfall due to Standard Bank and Their Lazy “Snail Paced” Attorneys. Now we are in more debt because of Standard Bank!! We went to the Bank, and they put us on a call which lasted about an hour, and they were giving us a weak excuse that “these things take time, and there are processes to follow.” Whilst we understand they have their slow processes and ridiculous time-frames; do they understand that this is putting us in a Financial Strain during these Financially difficult and trying times? Or was this just a ploy to get more money out of us?

Though they may be well educated, we are not stupid!!! In times of social media, they are foolish to even attempt such a pathetically weak excuse because we have already indirectly been through this process when we purchased this property: The seller was also at a shortfall, but unlike Standard Bank and their Lazy Attorneys, Nedbank Processed everything within two months.

My ex-neighbour who also sold at a shortfall, estimated that it would take Standard Bank +/- 3 months because his cancellation figures also came within a 3month period with ABSA!

Is Standard Bank an Inferior Bank compared to the above Banks?

If Standard Bank and Their hopeless Attorneys take their clients and jobs more seriously as the above Banks do; we would not be in this situation!

We can only hope that this traumatic experience be resolved immediately, and that standard Bank doesn’t delay any further, incurring further costs upon us.

Standard Bank was supposed to have our best interests at heart; sadly, they most definitely do not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
