A family death that was made more painful

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the content of your email below is the insinuation that my late father is responsible for this mess. Nobody here has proof that you did indeed contact him and using a deceased person as an excuse is really in bad taste. What I do have to go on is that you do not keep to any promises. On several occasions you have promised to contact myself and my mother and to date, none of us have received a call from you. We saw you in the last week of June and to date, you have not contacted any of us to inform us of the progress. Instead, every time we tried to contact you, you simply dismiss us by saying you are still waiting for a letter from the Master of the High Courts.

You have taken an extremely difficult and painful experience and you have in essence made twice as difficult as we have to beg for information from you. From the beginning, you have treated my family and I as though we are ***********, illiterate and non-deserving of decent service. All this for the family of one your “private banking” clients. It all leaves a very sour taste.

As if all of the above was not enough, you gave us the impression that the will you provided us (which you did not read out to us in full and left us with a lot of questions), is a valid will. You made us believe that everything will be handled by Standard Bank and Standard Trust and that we need not worry not worry. After all of this, we then find out more than a month and a half later that this is also not the case. This means that we have lost valuable time in winding up my father’s estate which could have been circumvented had you actually taken time to provide us with the service that I believe all of your clients deserve. I am not sure if this is because you judged a book by its cover but whatever the reason, you have caused an incredible inconvenience and have dragged out a very painful experience even longer than was supposed to be.

I would like a formal response from you and Standard Bank as to how this matter is going to be resolved. This is an enormous oversight on your part. How are you and Standard Bank are going to resolve this matter and make amends for the horrible treatment you have put us through.

I will be expecting a response by close of business today. My contact details are listed below.
