24 years as client, still not enough of record.

I have been a client of Standard Bank for 24 years. I have a housing bond with them and awhile back I had a Checking account, which included a revolving credit, credit card and an overdraft facility. When I got retrenched 2 years back I paid all that was due on these accounts and closed them, because I did not want debt whilst unemployed. I had no problem closing these accounts, but now 2 years later, I am back on my feet. I asked for a Checking account again and was told I am missing a payslip for them to process my account again. In my time with Standard Bank I have never forfeited payment on any account. I have always been responsible with my debts and have not taken the decision lightly to reopen these accounts. Is 24 years service to a company that has taken enough interest and bank charges to understand their banking history. It seems I will be moving my bond to another bank in the soonest.
