What is the point of the finance department?

I am writing to express my deep frustration with the continued lack of support from the finance departments at Stadio. This is the second time I’ve had a highly unsatisfactory experience.

Last week, I app**** for a student loan through Capitec, and the funds were disbursed to Smartfunder last Friday. However, I was unable to complete my registration, as the proof of payment was only sent to me over the weekend. When I followed up on Monday, I was informed that the funds were incorrectly allocated to the School of Education instead of the School of Law. While I acknowledge that this misallocation was not directly Stadio’s fault, the response and handling of the matter by your finance team have been wholly inadequate.

Despite multiple calls and being transferred between departments across various campuses, no one has been able to assist me with resolving this issue. I was repeatedly assured that the next person would be able to help, but to date, I remain without a resolution. It is unacceptable that no one in the finance department can assist with a straightforward fund reallocation and facilitate my registration.

Stadio must understand that I am the one liable for the R38,000 student loan—not the institution. My first repayment is due at the end of this month, and as things stand, the funds are not being put to any use. It is deeply disappointing to face such poor service, especially after numerous attempts to seek help.

At this point, I feel I have no choice but to escalate the matter. I intend to lodge a formal complaint with the ombudsman, as that may be the only way to receive proper assistance. Alternatively, I will explore the option of withdrawing and allocating my funding elsewhere.
