You are certainly not earning your SPURs through your lack of communication

When it comes to food and service, Spur cannot be faulted. However, your lack of information turned my 3 year old’s birthday lunch into a complete nightmare.

We have been a Spur family card holder for a few years and have chalked up enough points to get a big discount. In addition, my son is supposedly a member of the Spur tribe and qualifies for a free meal when his special day comes around.

This week, we decided to take advantage of our rewards but we were mistaken. For starters, we were told that our family card was not registered. After checking a few times, I pointed out that we were indeed registered. We were then told that my son’s card was not registered. The manager was helpful enough to assist us in trying to sort the matter out.

During the time, we got conflicting messages about voucher validity dates and points accumulation. None of this was pointed out to us when we first registered. Last year, we wanted to get a meal for my son when he turned two years old. We were told we had to do it during his birthday month. We didn’t kick up a fuss then. Now, we are being told the voucher is valid for 3 months.

We were also told that our family card vouchers are only valid for 3 months. And as such we have been losing out on taking advantage of our hard earned points accumulated over the years.

The result of this debacle is that we had to pay for my son’s meal and had to spend more than an hour trying to validate our registration. What was even more embarrassing is that we had to leave the restaurant to get money to pay for something we as loyal customers didn’t have to pay for. It put a dampener on the birthday celebration and left me feeling very upset that my loyalty to your restaurants actually amount to nothing.

All of this could simply be avoided if you spell out your terms and conditions on signing up and train staff to inform patrons of such criteria.

I love Spur, however, right now, this embarrassing situation caused by Spur is giving me indigestion.
Seems like there are some dysfunctional family members in South Africa’s favourite restaurant.

When it comes to food and service, Spur cannot be faulted.
