WORST EXPERIENCE AT A SPUR!
<p>On 13/06/2016, my boyfriend, friend and I went to Brigh****er Commons Spur for their burger special. Being a vegetarian, I also look at the menu before I go as I know what a hassle eating out is. I noticed the Mexican burger which was new and excited to try it. Let me first start by saying that my boyfriend and I went to that same Spur on 02 May 2016 and had a lovely experience as the waitress was friendly and did not think it a big deal when I asked if they could do the goodie burger with a veg patty (why must I get charged for extra sauces when my boyfriend has 10 burgers to choose from with different flavours). Well this was not the case last night, after I explained I don't eat meat to the waiter, he brings the burger with mince on (no where on your menu is this stated). Then tells me they can't do the swop out as I requested (consistency please). Then the manager tells us that the mexican burger is not included on the burger special option. I call the customer care who denies this. He then wants us to pay for the normal soya burgers plus exta (R15 for a table s**** of avo for each burger = R45). It just ruined our evening and I will not go back to that Spur. The manager didn't seem to want to resolve it but just tell us how he was correct and we were wrong. Eating out for vegetarians has become like a game of Russian roulette and we have now opted for dinners at home instead. We will be sharing this story with all our vegan and vegetarian friends as we always saw Spur and Steers as the few places we could enjoy eating out.</p>

We are sorry that there was confusion regarding the burger promotion and your choice of Mexican Burger. The Mexican Burger has chili con carne on it which is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, mince, tomatoes and beans. So even without the beef patty, this would not have been an ideal option for you.
Our burger promotion has been simplified in that all burgers are now part of the deal. The promotional material states, "Buy one burger get one free. Lowest priced item per table is free. Eat-In only. Not available as a takeaway. Only valid for Burgers and Hot Diggity Dogs ordered from the Spur Adult Main Menu." Ideally, the waiter should have offered you the soya burger with a sauce of your choice.
Please allow us to address your concerns with the owner/operator of the Brigh****er Spur so that this type of incident does not reoccur. Thank you for highlighting the plight of vegetarians. We will be in touch shortly to offer feedback.

Hi Bev, I don't think you understand the point, why must I pay extra to have a tasty burger while meat eaters don't? At Roco Mamas I can choose any burger as a vegetarian option for no extra cost and I know both restaurants are from the same business. Why not state on your menu what the chili con carne includes. My step dad is Jewish and cannot eat most minces so that would be a problem even for him. I should be allowed to have my veg patty with some toppings just as my boyfriend enjoys without paying extra, until that happens, I will not be visiting a spur again.
