Why have a school fundraiser if you cannot manage the volumes?

My little one's school fundraising Spur evening was held at Ruimsig Spur on Tuesday evening, 27 November. This must have been the WORST restaurant dinner I have ever had!! After asking three staff members, we eventually managed to order our drinks, which we waited for for 40 minutes. Have you ever tried to explain to a 4 or 5 year old who is all played out, why there is NOTHING to drink??? Every staff member that was approached for service, gave us the "deer in the headlight stare" and ran away without any assistance!!! We unfortunately ordered food which took one hour to arrive at our table. ONE HOUR??????? I eventually planned to leave the money for the drinks on the table and stopping at a fast food drive thru for dinner on our way home. Our food did arrive, but we didn't even contemplate ordering a second round of drinks, since this would have extended the evening into a late night by the rate the service or rather *********** non-service was going. To make all things worse, the lady that assisted us, took down our number trying to explain that they only had 6 waiters for the whole restaurant that evening!! Why take our telephone numbers if you were just going to chuck it into the bin without a proper excuse??? What would it have taken from the restaurant manager to either phone all affected or if all else fails, to send an apology via sms? It was a terrible evening that should have been memorable to a little one if it was for her school. We left without leaving a cent tip on a R500+ bill. Shocking and obviously a typical Sppur evening that turned into a SOUR evening. You might as well replace the P with an O permanently!!
