Unfair treatment of employees

I was an employee at Chatoga Spur, Glen Marais till this morning when I got suspended and decided for my own good not to go back. I had been sick since Friday night, Saturday I went to work as I was feeling a bit better hence I didn't need a doctor and there's a rule that if you're absent sick you need to bring a doctor's note (even though not every time you get sick you will go to the doctor). Saturday around lunch time I asked to leave as I wasn't feeling too good. Sunday I went in for my shift at 16h00, I still wasn't feeling good but I didn't need to go to the doctor since I had medication at home so I worked. I have ulcers and a bladder problem. Sometimes I don't know which one is making me sick till I get to the doctor but i usually take something for pain. Around 21h30,I had done everything I was expected to. Cleaning my bays, doing my duty. I then asked one of the managers, Mike, to check me, he then told me Eugene is the one who was checking.

Thinking of all the past encounters I've had with Eugene in that shop, I told Mike I was scared of asking Eugene coz he would yell at me. Mike promised Eugene wouldn't yell but I knew coz he always does. I asked Mike if he could check and he said he would ask Eugene on my behalf. About an hour later, Eugene stood up, he had been sitting busy on his phone. Mike said I should ask him, and this is what happened when I asked him to check, Eugene told me I shouldn't tell him when to check, as i tried telling him that I was sick, he said I was giving him attitude and continued doing whatever it is that he was doing on his phone. Mike was there, he saw this, as well as some waiters and other people who were close by.

I was very hurt, I went back and sat down, 10 minutes later I walked away. I know I was wrong for leaving the shop without a manager's permission but what was I supposed to do after waiting in pain for more than an hour? Was I supposed to stay there until I collapse before a manager gives me permission to leave? I was really heartbroken when I left.

Monday I was off, Tuesday I went to work. This morning when I went to work, Jaco, the operator said I was suspended. He didn't ask me what really happened and accused me of lying to him about being sick (I don't know what I would've benefited from that coz I still went to work) I got his number and told him everything that happened, asked him if he had tried asking Mike what really happened, since Mike was also a manager on duty that night ,but he completely ignored that. So I am suspended for being sick, doing my job as I was expected to, then not being able to wait for a manager who was busy on his phone to tell me I could go coz I was in pain. If I just wanted to go home for fun this would've been a different story but I was sick. It's so sad how employees are treated in that place, it really is.
