Time to be Kind amidst a busy night

This review is not about eating at the Spur, rather it's about the great staff and service at this Spur despite the fact that I was not a customer of their restaurant at the time.

On the evening of 21 August, I went to the Standard Bank ATM across from the Topeka Spur. After I had inserted my card and during the PIN verification stage, the ATM machine got stuck and eventually swallowed my card. It was the one day I did not have my cellphone with me and I did not know where to go for help. I then decided to try the Spur to see if I could use their phone. The helpful waitress I stopped, came with me to the ATM, saw my problem as the PIN verification screen was still on the ATM, and said I could ask the manager, Portia, who then said it was ok - that I could call. The first few tries went to Voicemail, she eventually tried and I got through to the Standard Bank Customer Service number. After 3 tries and twenty minutes of holding on, I eventually got the Bank to cancel the card. During this time, the restaurant was very busy with customers arriving and waiting to be seated, a handyman having to fix something, staff having to use the computer...and me standing at the front station holding on at the phone. Not once did the staff get upset with me, they were in fact very sympathetic , including another employee, Sharia, who was also very concerned, helpful and actually placed a white paper across the ATM to indicate that it was faulty. She was also the one who prevented my call from being ended when both us were at the ATM at one stage.

I just to want to give a big Thank you to all the ladies who were so helpful - this month is Women's Month and all of you, whom I interacted with, were fantastic. I don't know all of your names but I appreciate your kindness to a stranger and your restaurant can be proud of your staff, who are willing to help even with no benefit to themselves.
