Theft at Lone Wolf Spur 25th October 2017

We wish to create awareness by informing you of the following incident that took place on the 25th October 2017 at the Lone Wolf Spur in Rand Park Ridge.

The Lone Wolf Spur is our family's Spur of choice. With good service, tasty food and a nice atmosphere in a seemingly safe environment, naturally we wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

We had a family member's birthday on the 25th October and since Spur themselves were celebrating their 50th Birthday with some very attractive limited time specials, we thought it would be the perfect way to celebrate and have a good time. Anticipating the Spur to be crazy busy because of the specials, our family decided to be there early and that everyone would come straight from work. We met up at Lone Wolf Spur at about 16:30 and had a wonderful time. As we were a party of 9, we had a substantial bill of about R1500. As always, we were happy with our time at our Spur. It was upon our departure at 18:45 that our happiness faded. We found that my brother's Nissan NP200 which was parked inside on the Spur premises and close to the main entrance door, had been broken into and that his laptop bag containing his laptop and a few miscellaneous items had been ******. The ******* had in fact broken the passenger door lock, removed it and gained entry to the vehicle. The laptop bag had been hidden from sight and was in no way visible from the exterior of the vehicle. Upon reporting this to the security guard on duty, he advised that he had not seen anything and that he was "there the whole time". The matter was also reported to the manager on duty by the name of Wayne Coleman. Wayne simply said "here is my card" and did not seem to be taking the matter too seriously. No mention was made of any investigation that would be conducted and our contact information was not taken. We feel that the situation was not handled with the the concern, empathy and professionalism that it should have been. Wayne said that the Lone Wolf Spur has not had any incidents in the last year and a half. According to a search online, an armed ******* took place at Lone Wolf Spur on the 23rd September 2016, just over a year ago. Surely they should have increased security measures since then? Unfortunately last night's incident also begs the question: What value or sense of security are the Car Guards actually providing on the Spur premises?

So for those of you heading to the Lone Wolf Spur tonight, best you stop off at home to drop off your laptop before parking your car outside the Spur.

This incident has left our family feeling deeply violated and we no longer feel that our favourite Spur is a safe place to eat.
