Terrible service from Thabang the manager at Spur Waterfall Mall
On Friday 30 December I went to spur with my husband and my mother who is an elderly citizen (70 years old) my mom had a tiny trolley with her, we were going to sit down order takeaways and drink tea while waiting for our order, however Thabang the manager said that there were no tables available that allowed for her to bring her trolley, we asked him to please make an exception for my mom as she is old and insisted on her belongings being safe, and that we were not going to be there for long just getting some takeaways and leaving. My mom said that she will sit outside then and Thabang said it was fine. The issue is that when we spoke with Thabang he was exceptionally rude and showed no compassion towards an elderly person. His demeanour was aggressive and rude, we then asked if we could speak to another manager and for about 5 minutes he refused, asked us why we wanted to speak to another manager because he was also a manager, I stated that perhaps he would have more compassion and be willing to assist. He literally did not want us to speak to someone else but continue with this unprofessional interaction with him. Eventually he left and we got a waiter to call the other manager, the other manager managed to make a plan for my mom to be comfortable and her belongings viable for her while sorting out the trolley issue. We were going to leave and go elsewhere had it not been for the other manager. This was a very unnecessary interaction and incident to have had and I feel that Thabang needs to be trained better to give better service and treat customers with respect and dignity. It's shocking that he is a superior to people in a restaurant, he should be an example and not the problem.
